The Finnish Housing Fair Co-operative Organisation and the City of Valkeakoski are organising the Housing Fair 2009 in Lintula in Valkeakoski on 10 July - 9 August 2009.

The ca. 40 fair houses built on the verdant housing fair area in Valkeakoski will form a multi-faceted combination. An extensible, unique house for a first home, a TV-house and a passive house with a vivid design are good examples of the extensive selection of houses. The fair includes houses built in both traditional and modern styles, one- and two-storey solutions, stone and wood houses - not to mention the latest trends and experimental building.

In Lintula, small and reasonably priced options are also presented, as well as house types popular with the general public. The sizes of the detached houses built on the area will vary from the wooden houses under 100 square metres to stone houses over 400 square metres.

The latest developments in energy-efficient housing are especially strongly present at the Valkeakoski Housing Fair: among others, several passive houses are presented in the area, in which the need for heating energy is approximately only one quarter of the energy consumption of a normal house. Most of the fair houses use the environmentally friendly geothermal heating.

Housing fair area

Village feeling and fair-sized plots

The housing fair area, situated to the north of Valkeakoski ca. 3,5 km from the city centre, is the perfect location for everyone who loves being close to nature and appreciates a smoothly running daily routine: in Lintula the living environment is calm and spacious with a countryside feel, and it's within a walking distance from schools, day care centres and other services that families with children appreciate.

The surroundings of the Lintula housing fair area are being developed at a fast pace. The new Tietotie Upper Secondary School and the Lotila Business Garden Technology and Business Centre are being built on the campus of the nearby Valkeakoski unit of the HAMK University of Applied Sciences and the Valkeakoski Vocational Institute. A new day care centre is also being constructed next to the fair area. In addition, there are plans to build a business centre in the neighbourhood.

The look of the housing fair area reminds the visitor of a village. The fair houses are located in groups of different shapes, connected to each other via the Linnunrata main street that runs through the whole area as well as light traffic routes and recreation areas. The site has both even field plots as well as forest plots with steep slopes. The acreage of the plots is relatively large, ca. 1 300 square metres on average, which makes them suitable for versatile landscaping and creating different kinds of structures in the yard and garden.

In the public recreation areas in Lintula, attention is paid to the landscaping, with a focus on proximity to the nature and creating a village feeling. Among others, a lush and visually striking wetland area, the Taikatilukset park area and an activity area with high quality play and sports equipment will be built there.
